Pilates is the perfect form of exercise to improve posture and core strength.
Key areas trained are the deep abdominal and lower back muscles, deep pelvic and hip muscles, and the upper and middle back muscles.
Training these muscles provides stability, strength and control to the lower back, pelvic and hip joints, upper back, neck and shoulder regions.
As well as improving strength, posture, general fitness and flexibility, Pilates also decreases stress through visualisation and breathing techniques.

At South Gippsland Therapy Centre, we offer group Mat Pilates classes (maximum 10 people) suitable for people who want to boost their core strength and fitness and have no major health issues or conditions. We also offer small group Studio Pilates (maximum 4 people) which utilises a variety of specialist Pilates equipment and tailored programs to suit individual requirements.
All potential class participants must initially carry out a one-on-one session with one of our certified instructors to teach you the basic pilates principles, and to assess your strengths and weaknesses.
While everyone will be a little bit different, after your first class, you can expect to feel revitalised and re-energised. And, because Pilates works the inner postural muscles, you might feel a little muscle soreness - but in a good way!
