Pilates is the perfect form of exercise to improve posture and core strength.
Key areas trained are the deep abdominal and lower back muscles, deep pelvic and hip muscles, and the upper and middle back muscles.
Training these muscles provides stability, strength and control to the lower back, pelvic and hip joints, upper back, neck and shoulder regions.
As well as improving strength, posture, general fitness and flexibility, Pilates also decreases stress through visualisation and breathing techniques.
Perfect for all ages and abilities, from the very weak to the very strong, Pilates allows you to work to your individual strengths and weaknesses.
At South Gippsland Therapy Centre, we offer group Mat Pilates classes (maximum 8 people) suitable for people who want to boost their core strength and fitness and have no major health issues or conditions. We also offer small group Studio Pilates (maximum 4 people) which utilises a variety of specialist Pilates equipment and tailored programs to suit individual requirements. In addition, we have a Mums and Bubs Core Strength Class and a pre-natal Mat Pilates class.
All potential class participants must initially carry out a one-on-one session with one of our certified instructors to teach you the basic pilates principles, and to assess your strengths and weaknesses.
While everyone will be a little bit different, after your first class, you can expect to feel revitalised and re-energised. And, because Pilates works the inner postural muscles, you might feel a little muscle soreness - but in a good way!
Class places are limited, so to book your spot, please call reception on 5662 5225.
